What are the best times of the year for sportfishing in Costa Rica in 2023?

January 31, 2023 by Jon Malavasi

The best times of the year for sportfishing in Costa Rica vary depending on the species you are targeting. In general, the dry season (December to April) is considered the best time to fish for marlin and sailfish on the Pacific coast, while the rainy season (May to November) is better for tuna and dorado. January 2023, it has been amazing for Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish and Marlin.

The Tarpon fishing season is through out the year but the best time to catch them are from April to June and September to November.

It’s important to note that Costa Rica’s weather patterns vary from year to year, so it’s best to consult with local fishing charters for the most up-to-date information on when to plan your trip.
